MomentMD ("the app") is a Markdown editor that runs locally on your Mac. This policy explains how the app handles information.
In Short
The app does not collect, store, upload or sell any personal information, and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code.
Your Documents
- Documents you edit are saved only where you choose (the folders or files you open). The app has no servers and offers no cloud sync.
- The app runs in the macOS App Sandbox and can access only the files and folders you explicitly grant through the Open panel, drag and drop, or "Open With". To avoid asking again on the next launch, it stores security-scoped bookmarks to those locations on your Mac.
- Crash-recovery snapshots of unsaved text, the built-in sample workspace and your preferences are stored only in the app's container on your Mac.
Network Access
The app accesses the network in exactly one case: when a document references a remote image (for example ), the app downloads that image directly from the server hosting it in order to display or export it. The request goes straight from your Mac to that server, just like opening the image in a web browser, so that server may see standard network information such as your IP address; how it handles that information is governed by its own privacy policy. The app never sends your document content anywhere.
Mermaid diagrams are rendered on your Mac, with all network requests blocked during rendering.
Data Collection
- No personal identifiers, contact information, location, usage data or diagnostics are collected.
- No third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs are used.
- If the app crashes, macOS may ask whether to send a crash report to Apple and share it with app developers. This is entirely under your control in System Settings; the developer only sees the anonymized crash information Apple provides.
Children's Privacy
The app does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
